Estranged from her husband, she has exiled herself to her bedchamber. She sings a battle cry for womanhood, defending her holding back from the Emperor. She plays along with the invisible clothes, never admitting there's nothing there.
Costume Regardless of historical costume or modern dress, we have always imagined her in pink ruffles all over her nightgown and her bed. We always see her in bed in her bedchamber until the end, when she appears in appropriate fancy dress for the public processional.
